The Sensorial Materia created in the Montessori method

The purpose of the Sensorial Material is not to train the senses but to train children to observe, compare, reason, decide, and form judgments from the impressions they receive through their senses. The result of this knowledge that comes from experience and conscious thought.

Each element of the Sensorial Material is planned to present one concept, one difficulty or one idea at a time. This prevents the confusion of too many ideas at once. The material is self-teaching, and children have the opportunity to realize and correct their own errors whithout help thus resulting in a sense of personal archivement.
